Todd Alexander Romano, affectionately known as the “Dapper Tastemaker”, began his career in decorating seventeen years ago working for Mario Buatta as his assistant. He founded his design firm and eponymous shop on Lexington Avenue in 1999.

His work is best known for its eclectic and youthful approach to traditional high-end interior design. His clientele is equally as diverse as are the locations of his projects, ranging from coast to coast, as well as several projects in Europe. He has been named to numerous lists of the Top 100 Best Decorators in America.

Louis XV chairs covered in a Clarence House velvet are paired with prints by Robert Goodnough, left, and Andy Warhol, and the circa-1970 Lucite sculpture is by Vasa Mihich; doors in a glossy black by Fine Paints of Europe lead to the entrance hall, which features a Regency mahogany hall chair and walls glazed in a custom green lacquer.

Regency chairs with silk cushions surround a Saarinen table in the kitchen; the walls are lined with vintage silk paper.

In the master bedroom, the custom-made headboard is upholstered in a Kvadrat felt, and the linens are by D. Porthault; the commode is in the style of Louis XVI, the chair is Louis XV, and the mirror is 19th century.Read more: ELLE DECOR
