Mod Podge on Amazon
Art is often in the eye of the beholder. However, if you have furniture that's looking more drab than fab, Mod Podge offers the perfect medium through which you can spruce it up and really make it conversation worthy.
Mod Podge is the brand name for a gel medium designed specifically for use in decoupaging. It's widely available to purchase - both online and in brick-and-mortar craft stores - in gloss or matte finishes. An acid-free version is also available.
Despite the fact that it was formulated specifically for use in decoupage art projects, Mod Podge is widely used in a variety of purposes including jewelry making, home decor, and countless crafting projects.
The brilliant thing about Mod Podge is that it's not just the glue that holds the look together. It also serves as a protective barrier. It protects the items it covers from damage due to age, moisture, dust, and even fragility.
With this in mind, is Mod Podge a wise choice for decorating furniture?
Why wouldn't it be? Many people protect their wood with some sort of fishing product (paint, varnish, etc.).
New Trends for Mod Podge
While Mod Podge is an excellent choice for many craft projects, a new trend uses it to decorate and protect old furniture. It's a great way to breathe new life into furniture that may be a bit past its prime. You can take yard sale finds, Goodwill items, and even "found" furniture and turn it into a work of art that has as much form as it does function.
Be creative when using Mod Podge with furniture. There are a wide range of items you can attach to furniture items, and ways in which you can attach them.
For instance, consider these items for a little inspiration and imagine how well they'd work as shelf lining, cabinet faces, interior drawer liners, exterior drawer faces, lamp shades, table tops, and so much more:
Comic Strips/Comic Book Pages
The list of possibilities really is limitless. You can also consider collages made of concert or sporting event tickets, theatre performance playbills, and even postcards from family vacations. All of these ideas can be beautiful when added to the right piece of furniture.
It's best to use a hard coat Mod Podge when using it for furniture. This is a heavy duty type of Mod Podge that will protect the furniture's surface from the dings and dents that come from daily wear and tear.
Apply multiple coats for even greater protection.
The truth of the matter is that Mod Podge has gone full circle. It's not just for kid's crafts anymore. It serves as a great way to protect furniture while turning the furniture into a work of art in its own right.

How to decorate furniture with fabric using modge podge and resin- Shelter Hub
"Now one thing I do know about resin is that if you are going to use fabric or paper with resin, you
need to seal itfirst so the resin doesn?t sink into the fabric or paper and discolor it.
So I took my Mod Podge and put a thick layer on the top of the table and shelf. Then I laid the
fabric on top and smoothed out all of the air bubbles. And then I put TWO layers over the top of
the fabric. And I let it dry overnight. Once it was dry, I trimmed the fabric a little more so it was
exactly the same size as the table top."
"There were some bubbles, so I got out my little propane torch/lighter and ran it over the surgace and it was amazing the way that propane gets the bubbles out. There were hundreds of tiny bubbles
sticking to the fabric and the propane flame zapped them all up!"
